Please increase road safety for cyclists. Introduce dutch style cycleways. Introducing more cycle racks will help but the roads around Dorking cannot solely be designed for just cars. The noise and traffic in the centre of town are awful and fearful for the average cyclist.

The proposal for a small amount of additional cycle parking in Dorking town centre is unambiguous in the extreme. and not a good use of funds. Possibly the parking outside the gym might be useful. If general cycling (not high speed road bike cycling) is to be increased cyclists must feel much safer. The town centre speed limit should become 20 mph as soon as possible. Cyclists leaving Dorking and approaching the Cockerel roundabout should be clearly directed to the service road and crossing especially if proceeding towards Reigate. The cycle path on the south side of the A25 should be repaired and overhanging branches removed. In the longer term the existing overgrown footpath on the A25 west of Dorking to Abinger should be turned into a cycle path. ( Route 22 is ok but too rough and narrow after Westcott for some. Finally there should be serious consideration of one way only for motor traffic through Dorking High St and either south or west street to allow for a separate cycle route. Ashcimbe road should take the motor traffic.

I'll wait and see how it goes

Surely what is needed in addition to cycle parking are safe cycling routes from surrounding areas to get into the Town. Only then will the number of cycle parking spaces required be known. The current spaces are never full.

Cyclists should be made to have bells and use them if they use the cycle lanes. I have had many near misses by cyclists creeping up on me from behind.

Install more cycle infrastructure within the town to separate cyclists from traffic flow where possible, make it easier to lock bikes and generally make it safer for cyclists. Double yellow line enforcement along the high street would improve traffic and cycle flow
